Rei Macaraeg

Hi! I’m Rei Macaraeg, and I’m in my Junior year here at FTHS. I took Art 1 my Freshman year and am currently in my second and final year of the GRAFX pathway. My preferred form of work is illustration, though I like to dabble in a bit of everything. Last year, I worked quite a bit on video shooting and editing, photography,  posters and graphic design, as well as animation.

This year, I’m focusing more on illustration and making my work “come to life” with tangible objects such as physical posters, wood pieces, and stickers. I’m trying to work on making use of space, filling designs with intricate details that make pieces look busy and alive, different color schemes, as well as more varied line thicknesses. My work also features animals a lot, and this stems from my love of them, as well as how creative you can be with them in terms of exaggerating features, or giving them completely new ones. I really admire cartoon-esque artstyles, so my drawings are usually toony or semi-toony. I take a lot of inspiration from music, emotions, collages, and other artists.
